Description
The Robertshaw 1980-072 is a 72-inch snap-fit thermocouple, a safety device essential for gas-fired HVAC systems with standing pilots. It converts heat into a small voltage signal (25-30 millivolts). In a furnace or boiler, the pilot flame heats the tip of the thermocouple, generating a voltage that keeps the gas control valve open. If the pilot extinguishes, the thermocouple cools, the voltage drops, and the gas control valve shuts off the gas supply for safety. This 72-inch length provides flexibility for fitting various HVAC systems.
