Description
The Emerson Climate-White Rodgers 3098-134 48” Mercury Flame Sensor Element is used to protect and maximize the operation of HVAC systems. Operation is realized by using a mercury bulb that regulates and reacts to the heat of the pilot flame. The pilot flame is present, and the expansion of mercury drives an internal switch that sends a message to the control board to prevent the gas valve from closing. In case the flame goes out, the mercury contracts, breaking the signal and causing the gas valve to close, thereby stopping the unburnt gas. With this correct mechanism, presence of flame and its absence are detected and dealt with quickly.
